Why it matters for Nigeria and Africa
Europe is a natural market for African gas, by pipeline from North Africa and as LNG from Nigeria and other producers. European prices set the value of those exports.
Over the past year the price has risen by 56.3%, from 11.47 on 1 Jul 2025 to 17.93 US dollars per MMBtu. Its 52-week high was 17.93 on 1 Jul 2026.
