Newsroom standards
How the CEII Newsroom is run, how its articles are produced, and how to reach it.
Ownership
The Newsroom is published by the Centre for Energy Investment and Innovation (CEII), an energy organisation headquartered at 05 Bobo Street, Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria. It carries no advertising and no sponsored content.
What the Newsroom publishes
Two kinds of item appear, always labelled:
- CEII Desk articles are the Centre’s own reports. Each is written from published reporting by named news organisations and from the Centre’s data, and lists every source it draws on at the end.
- Headlines from other publishers name the publisher and link to its article. The Centre does not republish their reporting.
How CEII Desk articles are produced
The CEII Desk is automated. It groups reports of the same event from different outlets, reads the publicly available text where the publisher’s robots.txt permits, and drafts an article in its own words with a language model. Before anything is published, automatic checks reject drafts that copy passages from the sources, that are too short to stand on their own, or that rely on a single headline without the full reporting. Figures from the Centre’s data carry their year and source.
Every article states that it was written by the CEII Desk, and its sources are listed and linked. The Centre does not independently verify events reported by others; the original publishers remain the source of record. The Centre’s editors can withdraw any article.
Dates
Articles are dated when they are published on this site. Coverage of the Centre by other outlets is listed separately, under each article’s original date, in CEII in the media.
Corrections
If an article contains an error, write to info@centreforenergy.org with the article’s address and the correction. Confirmed errors are corrected, or the article is withdrawn.
