Rules the platform follows

  1. No invented figures. Every number is retrieved from a named source. If a source fails, the page shows its last verified value with the time it was retrieved, or says the value is unavailable.
  2. Freshness is always visible. Each panel shows whether its data is current, last-known or unavailable, and when it was retrieved.
  3. Third-party information is labelled. News headlines, market rates and development statistics belong to their publishers. They are attributed and linked, and are never presented as CEII research.
  4. Official and unofficial are distinguished. Statements from regulators are marked “Official”. Commercial reference rates are not presented as Central Bank of Nigeria rates.
  5. Models are called models. Forecasts (such as solar irradiation) and estimates are described as such.
  6. Licences are respected. Only openly licensed data and images are used, with the attribution each licence requires; see credits.

How the news wire works

The wire reads the public RSS feeds of the following publishers every fifteen minutes and shows the headline, publisher, time and a link to the original article. Article text is not copied. General business feeds are filtered by energy-related keywords, and duplicate stories are removed.

How data is cached

The platform keeps the last verified copy of each source on its own server. Pages are built from that copy, so they load immediately and keep working during a provider outage. When a copy is older than its refresh interval, the platform fetches a new one in the background; until it succeeds, the panel is marked “Last known”.
