Firm trains 300 solar technicians in Kano

WHC Solar has trained nearly 300 technicians in Kano to improve installation standards and reduce technical faults.

By the CEII Desk, from reporting by Punch

Key points

  • WHC Solar conducted technical training for about 300 participants in Kano.
  • The initiative aimed to minimise installation errors and improve service quality.
  • Sessions covered inverter setup, lithium battery configuration, and component communication.

What happened

According to Punch, WHC Solar held a capacity-building programme in Kano for approximately 300 solar technicians. The event surpassed the initial target of 250 participants. The chief executive officer of the firm, Clint Chan, stated that the exercise sought to address technical deficiencies and reduce mistakes during setup.

Why it matters

Participants received practical instruction on configuring inverters and lithium batteries alongside system communication. According to distributor Sani Abdulkadir, public adoption of solar energy systems is increasing across households. World Bank data indicates that Nigeria's electricity use per person stood at 140.6 kWh in 2024, with grid access covering 62.5 percent of the population that same year.

What comes next

Attendees received certificates acknowledging their participation. The company stated its intention to maintain operations in the country and support the expansion of the renewable energy sector.
