Kosmos Energy, Eni, TotalEnergies and AGL received honours during African Energy Week in South Africa.

By the CEII Desk, from reporting by MyJoyOnline (Ghana)

Key points

  • Kosmos Energy Ghana and CEO Andrew Inglis won two accolades at the annual event.
  • Eni and TotalEnergies were recognised for production and renewable power developments.
  • Africa Global Logistics took home the international service provider prize.

What happened

Several international energy companies and executives gathered in Cape Town, South Africa, to receive recognition at the 2026 African Energy Awards, according to MyJoyOnline. Kosmos Energy Ghana claimed the corporate social responsibility prize for its business incubator, the Kosmos Innovation Centre, which aids agricultural and energy ventures.

Andrew Inglis, chief executive officer of Kosmos, received the Mohammed S. Barkindo Lifetime Achievement Award. MyJoyOnline reported that his career spans over four decades, including leadership roles at British Petroleum prior to joining Kosmos in 2014.

Industry achievements

Eni secured the exploration and production leader title following discoveries in Angola and Côte d’Ivoire, alongside ongoing operations in Ghana. TotalEnergies won the power developer category for its Hydra hybrid project in South Africa, which pairs a solar installation with a battery storage system. Meanwhile, Africa Global Logistics received the international service provider award for its supply chain and transport network across the continent.

Why it matters

The accolades highlight corporate contributions to petroleum extraction, renewable power integration, and infrastructure support. For nations like Ghana, sustaining private sector investment remains vital for mitigating production declines in mature fields and bolstering energy security.
