Permeta launches AI platform for regulatory research
A new platform allows energy professionals to query regulatory filings using conversational AI assistants.
Key points
- Permeta has introduced FERC.ai to integrate public regulatory records with conversational AI models.
- The tool currently indexes over 500,000 filings covering electricity, natural gas, hydropower and oil sectors.
- Users can access the service through platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot using the Model Context Protocol.
New regulatory research tool
Permeta has released a beta version of FERC.ai, a platform designed to make public records from the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission accessible via conversational artificial intelligence tools. Renewable Energy World reported that the service connects to assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot.
According to the company, the database includes more than 500,000 documents with hourly updates. The coverage encompasses applications, orders, protests, and staff reports across electric, natural gas, hydropower, and oil proceedings.
Capabilities and pricing
Eric Redmond, CEO of Permeta, stated that the technology helps users review past proceedings and precedents more efficiently. The system employs the Model Context Protocol to link external data with large language models, providing citations and links back to the original eLibrary documents.
Early users participate in a 14-day trial period before moving to a discounted monthly rate of 200 US dollars. Permeta noted that the product operates independently and holds no affiliation with the regulatory commission.
