  • Participants will showcase oil and gas technologies, industrial equipment, and digital infrastructure.

What happened

A Russian business mission has commenced in Cape Town as part of African Energy Week 2026, according to ESI Africa. Organized by the Russian Export Center, the delegation features 13 companies under the Made in Russia brand seeking to build partnerships across the continent.

The delegation includes firms showcasing products for the oil and gas sector, covering drilling, production, and pipeline infrastructure. Other offerings include industrial equipment, instrumentation, control systems, and digital infrastructure solutions.

Why it matters

According to ESI Africa, the initiative is designed to connect Russian manufacturers with importers, distributors, and industry operators from South Africa and other African nations. The agenda features business-to-business meetings intended to explore local market requirements, supply terms, and technological cooperation.

The Russian Export Center operates as a government institution under the VEB.RF Group, providing financial and non-financial support to non-resource and non-energy exporters entering international markets. The group incorporates EXIAR, ROSEXIMBANK, and the REC Export School.

What comes next

Participants will continue meetings throughout the event to establish direct business contacts and discuss long-term partnerships between Russian and African enterprises.
