Integrated Power Services acquires Bold Renewables
Integrated Power Services has expanded its renewable energy portfolio by acquiring solar inverter maintenance firm Bold Renewables.
Key points
- The acquisition became effective on October 9, 2026.
- Bold Renewables supports approximately 14,000 legacy solar inverters across North America.
- Bold will join the Motion division within the IPS renewable energy services group.
What happened
Integrated Power Services (IPS) has completed the acquisition of Bold Renewables, a company specializing in solar inverter maintenance and field services. Mercom Capital Group and Solar Power World reported that the transaction took effect on October 9, 2026.
Based in Windsor, Colorado, Bold Renewables provides preventive maintenance, spare parts, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) field services for Advanced Energy central solar inverters. The firm maintains about 14,000 legacy inverters representing over 4 gigawatts of capacity across more than 3,000 sites in the United States and Canada.
Why it matters
According to Solar Power World, the purchase brings exclusive OEM design drawings, blueprints, and firmware access to IPS. John Zuleger, president and CEO of IPS, stated that the deal introduces inverter capabilities that strengthen the company's service offerings across the lifecycle of solar and wind assets, as reported by Solar Power World.
Following the transaction, Bold will operate within the IPS Motion division's renewable energy services group alongside ENA Electronics and IPS Folcroft. Brenda Clarke, president of Bold, noted that the move provides additional engineering and repair resources while maintaining continuity for existing clients, according to Solar Power World.
Market context
Mercom Capital Group reported that corporate mergers and acquisitions in the solar sector rose to 57 transactions in the first half of 2026, compared to 50 during the same period in 2025. This follows other recent consolidation moves in the power electronics space, including ABB's acquisition of Gamesa Electric's Spanish power electronics business earlier in the year.
