Centalion expands Haynesville footprint via Silver Hill deal

Recently rebranded commodity trader Centalion Group has acquired upstream and midstream natural gas assets in Texas and Louisiana.

By the CEII Desk, from reporting by Rigzone

Key points

  • Centalion Group purchased assets spanning roughly 72,000 net acres from Silver Hill Energy Partners.
  • The acquired properties currently yield about 300 million cubic feet of gas daily.
  • The transaction aligns with the company's broader strategy to expand its Gulf Coast natural gas presence in partnership with Western Natural Resources.

What happened

Centalion Group Ltd, formerly known as Gunvor Group, has completed the purchase of a natural gas portfolio located in Texas and Louisiana from Silver Hill Energy Partners, according to Rigzone reporting.

The transaction covers approximately 72,000 net acres situated within the Haynesville and Bossier development zones. Current production from these properties stands at roughly 300 million cubic feet per day. Furthermore, the operational footprint includes about 300 gross development locations intended for future expansion.

Why it matters

Rigzone reported that the acquisition is part of a collaborative arrangement with Western Natural Resources. Centalion stated that the transaction strengthens its Gulf Coast strategy, establishing its regional footprint among the largest for private operators in the United States natural gas sector.

The company noted that the strategic location provides access to domestic and liquefied natural gas demand centers. This allows the trading firm to utilise its established marketing capabilities alongside ongoing development programmes.

What comes next

Following its corporate rebrand and relocation to Singapore, Centalion maintains trading hubs in multiple global cities including Geneva and Houston. The firm intends to continue executing its active development plans within the basin while maintaining established risk management practices.
