Grema Sulaiman Highlights CEII’s Role in Nigeria’s Sustainable Energy Projects in PIF

Grema Sulaiman, the Director General of the Centre for Energy Investment and Innovation (CEII), participated in the second day of the prestigious Public Investment Fund (PIF) – Private Sector Forum.The forum which attracted an impressive turnout of over 8,000 private sector participants, with 100 booths representing PIF’s portfolio companies and various government entities served as a dynamic platform for announcing new programs and partnerships, underscoring extensive collaboration opportunities between PIF, its portfolio companies, and the private sector.


During the event, Sulaiman engaged with the Senior Vice President for National Development Sectors, National Development of of the PIF, Mr. Markos Dimitriou. Pitching CEII’s proposal to position the Centre as a potential partner for African energy investment initiatives to the PIF in navigating the energy transition in Africa. Championing energy innovation through innovative financing in sustainable energy projects across Africa, leveraging the PIF’s vast resources and network to foster sustainable energy projects, particularly in Nigeria.


Under Sulaiman’s leadership, CEII has been instrumental in advancing energy investment and innovation in Africa. Notably, with local and international development partners such as Synergy Infrastructure Development & Investment Limited (SIDIL), a renewable energy company in partnership with CEII is championing decentralized energy provision for nationwide power generation in Nigeria. Promoting a de-risking investment model to ensure safety and compliance, boosting investor confidence in partnership with the Nigerian Army through a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement.


Additionally, as a development partner of Crescent House Limited, CEII is enhancing the development of the Centenary City Project as Africa’s most luxurious city in Nigeria amongst many other development projects, such as the establishment of The CEII Advanced Energy Hub (AEB) in Abuja, the development of the Abuja Technology Village (ATV) in partnership with the Centre towards positioning the Federal Capital Territory as a future global destination in line to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) Renewed Hope Agenda and the Honorable Minister, Nyesom Wike development plan.
In his remarks, Alhaji Alhassan A. Dantata, executive chairman of SIDIL and Crescent House Limited, who also serves as a Member of the CEII Advisory Board and Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Corporate Planning Division (CPD) at CEII, commended Sulaiman’s efforts in driving these initiatives.


Pioneering flagship forum such as Africa-Gulf Energy Investment Forum (AGEIF) under Sulaiman’s leadership with CEII is another significant development. A think tank that is aimed towards promoting public and private sector engagement between African countries and the Gulf nations, with an ambitious model expanding towards other continents from across the world. This initiatives underscores Sulaiman’s commitment to fostering robust energy partnerships and advancing the continent’s energy sector.


The PIF-Private Sector Forum marked a significant step towards bridging private sector initiatives with national development strategies in Saudi Arabia, illustrating the pivotal role of global partnerships in advancing economic growth and innovation. With leaders and innovators from diverse sectors convening under one roof, the forum is set to catalyze transformative projects and collaborations, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a central hub for investment and development.
